WATCH OUT SATAN – THESE BOOTS ARE GONNA WALK ALL OVER YOU!

It was Nancy Sinatra, the daughter of Frank Sinatra, who famously sang in 1966, “These boots are made for walking and that’s just what they’ll do. One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you.” As I think about Jesus’s triumph over the Devil, about 2000 years ago on the cross of Calvary and the resultant victory which the children of God have over Satan, I cannot but remember the lyrics of Sinatra’s famous song!
Following the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, those who receive Him into their lives as their Saviour and Lord, are redeemed from the grip of the Devil and become translated into God’s Kingdom. Not only that, but they also become empowered by the Lord Jesus to trample upon Satan, the enemy of our souls.
In Luke 10: 19, Jesus said, “Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you. (Amplified Bible). The New Living Translation (©2007) puts it this way, “Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.” These words of Jesus are an affirmation of God’s decree (immediately after man fell) that man would eventually crush the Devil. See Genesis 3: 15, where the Bible tells us:
“And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” (New International Version (©1984) [Emphasis supplied].
So, what is authority? The word translated “authority” is from the Greek word ĕxŏusia (pronounced ex-oo-see-ah). In relation to authority, it means the power to do as one pleases. It includes physical and mental power, authority, and the power of government, that is, the power of someone whose will and command must be obeyed and submitted to. It is “the power or right to give orders, make decisions, and enforce obedience.” In other words, if you are in Christ Jesus, then you have the right to give orders to the Devil as well as the ability to enforce his obedience!
Are you born again? Do you know Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour? Is your name written in the Lamb’s Book of Life? If yes, then your boots, shoes, sandals and feet should be walking all over the Devil. Put differently, you should be crushing the devil. To walk all over the enemy, you must:
·         Know Jesus as your personal Saviour and Lord
·         Make the scriptures a part of your daily routine, such that the word of God becomes flesh to you.
·         Recognise and affirm who you are in Christ Jesus
·         Understand the tricks of the enemy
·         Be on the offensive and take the fight to the enemy’s camp
Whatever challenges you are facing today, know for a certainty that if you are in Christ Jesus, you can CRUSH the Devil!!!
